Exclusive Interview with Marc Fischer - CEO, Dogtown Media
In this exclusive interview, He shared his experiences in IT and several more things. Let’s check his success story and thoughts.
1. Tell Us about yourself how you start your career in IT Sector?
I’m the co-founder and CEO of Dogtown Media mobile technology studio based in California. I got my start in app development, shortly after the app store was launched and announced by Steve Jobs in 2009.
I have always had an interest in technology, building websites and digital toolsets since I got my first computer at the age of 12 and naturally progressed my career path into building meaningful experiences for startup founders and big businesses that wanted to think like startups and enjoy creating mobile apps with a global impact.
2. Tell us in brief about your company and the leadership.
I met my cofounder CTO Rob Pope at a barbeque in 2009. We started as friends, where we both worked in technology positions looking for the next big thing.
At this time we both had an early interest in mobile technology shortly after the first iPhone was released and were convinced there would be a tremendous amount of growth in app development over the next decade.
Less than a year after the first meeting, we decided to form Dogtown Media to build our own apps and bring them from ideas to the app store marketplace.
3. What is your outlook for 2021?
2021 is going to be a great year for the industry and a continuation of the digital transformation trends that picked up steam during the coronavirus pandemic that started in early 2020.
A lot of people are going to be emerging from the downturn of the pandemic and returning to business, but one thing is for sure, the growth and adoption of digital toolsets and mobile apps, teleconferencing, and telemedicine will continue to provide immense value to our lives.
4. How do you assess the role of research agencies like TopappFirms in bridging the gap between clients and service providers?
Research agencies play a valuable role in vetting out top talent and presenting a curated list to people searching for partner agencies that can meet their demands in a fast-paced and competitive world. This type of service can drive down the time to effectively find and onboard top talent, a process that can often inhibit and stall critical business processes and prolong critical projects while organizations try to onboard to meet demand.
5. Any particular technology or industry you would be targeting? How do you plan to prepare your workforce for the upcoming technology upgrade?
We focus mainly on futuristic technology such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, IoT, automation, robotics, and especially connected devices such as smart medical devices or wearable devices. We love working in the healthcare space because of the immediate impact that it gives to help people live happier, healthier, and longer lives.
6. What all services do you think you would add to your offerings in 2021?
We are very focused on the future and see that the most exciting areas of technology are going to be, in all likelihood, be beyond mobile experiences and mobile apps as technology come into the forefront and things such as verbal chatbots such as Alexa transform how we interact with computers, smart devices and one another. We are spending more time building out our skill sets and technology frameworks to be prepared for this shift into a post-mobile world.
7. What are the challenges you see in the outsourcing industry and how much you’re prepared to face those challenges?
Working with remote teams has inherent challenges to them. Our team is distributed across the United States and we’ve now found that productivity has risen and innovation has actually increased rather than being inhibited through this distributed model. We feel that by adapting our work models and our communications very quickly during the pandemic disruption, we have learned how to become a more dynamic and impactful team than ever before.
8. How helpful are the Web and mobile apps developed by your team, for enhancing your clients’ business?
The web and mobile apps developed by our team have gone on to create thousands of jobs, over a billion jobs in venture capital and our medical apps have saved thousands of lives over the course of their launch into the public sphere.
9. What according to you are the best practices to attain client satisfaction?
It's always important to have truthful transparent relationships with our clients and always over-communicate and ask them how we are doing and improve. Only by getting feedback from our clients and building trust and rapport can we continually build and improve our processes so that every new client has an improved and enhanced experience based on the growth and feedback we’ve built through previous work relationships.
10. Tell me about your successful project?
Some successful projects have included building a mobile app for the Minneapolis Heart Institute that was implemented during the COVID crisis to help doctor nurses and caregivers provide specialized care to COVID-19 patients and to effectively route them into emergency care if their health and wellbeing was at risk.
11. How do you help your clients in choosing the right yet profitable platform for Web development?
We always look at our clients as our partners and want to build successful outcomes for them.
Our team has over 10 years of experience building for web mobile and cross-platform technologies and steer our clients into platforms that make the most sense for them, not just for today but for the future to come.
12. What is the price range (min and max) of the projects that you catered to in 2021 after COVID19?
The smallest projects we took on were partnerships with charity organizations that were very impactful and not based on making a profit but doing well in the world. Our largest projects can range up to very large amounts, but it always comes down to work efforts and the complexity of the project.
13. Please describe the operational structure of your company- from the moment a client walks in, to the product deployment.
Our company is led by myself as CEO and co-founder Rob Pope as CTO. Our team is cross-functional in nature. Our process starts with our Business Developer, who is responsible for forming relationships with clients.
Following, we then have that relationship handed off to the Technical Project Manager during kickoff who will maintain that relationship from the start of the project to completion. We have UX designers, product strategies, content strategists, analytics experts, and mobile, web, and back-end developers who can participate in a project life cycle depending on the technical requirements and staffing needed to achieve a successful project outcome.
14. After service is a necessary part of development. How do you provide customer support to your client?
After a successful launch of a mobile or web application, we always want to make sure that we are available as a post-project technical resource. Here, we want to make sure we are readily available should that organization have any follow-up application requests.
Further, we want to always be available to guide our clients in the future, roll out new features and functionality, provide maintenance and updates for the platform to provide 99.9% uptime and dependability. Oftentimes we will put together a service level agreement that outlines exactly what needs to be done to attain a successful deployment.
15. Android or iOS, Native or Hybrid — which platform is best to use to build your app? What are your recommendations?
We build with native applications for IoS and Android as well as cross-platform hybrid applications for web and mobile experiences. The answer when asked what is best, we answer with it depends on the client's unique goals and objectives around their application rollout.
We never want to force a client to make a decision that is not in their best interest. To do so, we always take into account where they are today and where they are looking to go tomorrow
